Cottingham kids step out for Road Safety Week

Children from Cottingham C of E Primary School have been stepping out for Road Safety Week by taking part in an annual ‘park and stride’ event.

The children were dropped off at the Spread Eagle car park then escorted down the hill to school by the rural team from Corby Borough Council and Northamptonshire Police, parents and teachers – and were then accompanied back up the hill at home time.

Erica Biddle, the school’s acting head teacher, said: “The children really enjoyed the walk and this is a fun, healthy alternative to being driven to school.”

The event was organised by Corby Borough Council’s Rural Pride Officer Suzanne Preston and Steve Tayler, the school’s Head of Sports Development.
