The Harvest concert at Cottingham Church on Sunday 13 July raised £500 for the church new loo fund, bringing the total raised so far to £20,218.
The Church would like to thank Pauline Youngs and Kettering singing group Sound Sensation for a most entertaining afternoon.
With the church laid out with tables and beautifully decorated for the Harvest, the audience enjoyed a variety of songs from across the decades, together with a delicious Harvest Tea.

AN ODE TO HARVEST
What a summer we have had
Some has been good and some has been bad
But the pleasure now remains
To see the rewarding drops of rain
The grass returning to the wonderful green
While from the plane England’s fields are seen
It is said that the UK’s wine this year
Will reap the awards, for many a year
Peaches and blackberries in abundance have shown
But the beans and courgettes are looking quite forlorn
The lack of rain has caused the farmers much angst
In the shortage of yield, will mean less in the banks
The animals have been shaded when the sun was at its peak
The dog owners have been out with their pets, up at dawn it is said
To make sure they did not get roasted when out on the lead
We have been used to seeing mellow fields of gold
Not the blazing fires that has been happening all over the world
We are lucky we live in such a beautiful place
With the church clock now ticking and the bells marking the hour
The roses have proved their strength as a flower
And we as the people have been subject to bans
To marching round the garden with our watering cans
Let us hope that we together take on what we face
That the climate can be challenged by all the human race
