Fundraising activities in Cottingham and Middleton over the festive season have raised an amazing £4,523 for village and local good causes.
The wreath making workshop at Cottingham School attracted a record 50 people and raised £625 for Cottingham School PTFA.The festive wine tasting on 6 December raised £1,185 for the Village Hall.The Christmas Ghost Stories raised £930, with £730 going to the village church new loo project and £200 to Cottingham Friends of Green Spaces (FroGS). This year’s Christmas Craft Fayre raised a record £891, with £362.50 going to the Village Shop, £362.50 to the church loo project and £166 to the village Warm Space.The auction of the mini needle-felted alpacas raised £260, generously topped up to £300. This brings the total raised for the church loo project over the festive period to £1,392.50. We’ll bring you more news of this project in the New Year.The Welland Valley Voice Choir raised £389 from carol singing at East Carlton Cricket Club, The Sun at Great Easton and the Royal George in Cottingham, to be shared between Lakelands Hospice and the local Air Ambulance. £203 of ‘Taxes’ were collected from villagers on the Christmas Eve Nativity Walk. This will be donated to Corby Food Bank.
