Every six years, St Mary Magdalene Church has to create a new electoral roll, and 2025 is the year!
Why should I join the electoral roll?
The electoral roll is a record of the support and interest the church has in our villages. Joining the electoral roll also means you can vote on appointments such as the Churchwarden and Parochial Church Council (PCC) members, at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM).
Who can enrol?
You can join the electoral roll if you are resident in the parish, aged over 16 and are a member of the Church of England (i.e. you have been baptised or confirmed at a CofE church). Non-residents who have regularly worshipped in the parish over the past six months can also enrol.
We’d encourage anyone who fits the criteria to enrol, especially if you have a relationship with and support the church in any way, for example our bellringers, warm space attendees, or if you’ve enjoyed attending a service or event up at the church.
If you are already on the electoral roll, you’ll need to re-register.
Who sees the electoral roll, and how is it used?
The electoral roll is a record for the Parochial Church Council only. The number of people on the electoral roll is sent to the Diocese, but no other information is shared anywhere else.
How do I enrol?
To enrol, please complete the form attached below and email it to Angela Preston-Jones at cottinghamchurch@gmail.com, or print it out and pop it in the box at the Village Store and Café. There are paper copies of the form available at the village store too.
