Car parking in Middleton

From Middleton Parish Council

Middleton Parish Council has received several complaints about parking throughout the village. These include concerns about vehicles parked close to junctions and parking on pavements.

Cars parked very near junctions can present a safety hazard for those emerging from the junction, as visibility is impaired.  For larger vehicles, it can be awkward for them to manoeuvre, especially where the roads are narrow.

Parking on pavements can make it difficult for pedestrians to walk safely through the village and is a particular concern for those with pushchairs or wheelchair users.

The highway code makes it clear that vehicles should not park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction except in an authorised parking space.  It also states that vehicles should not park partially or wholly on the pavement unless signs permit it.

The Parish Council kindly requests that residents and their visitors think about the impact on other people when parking their vehicles.  Wherever possible, please can you avoid parking on pavements or close to junctions.

Thank you for your help in keeping our village safe.
