Cost of living – support available

With the rising cost of living, here are a few initiatives that may help make your household budget stretch that little bit further, especially if you’re on a low income, or are receiving benefits or pension credits.

  • A number of supermarkets are offering discounts and free meals through the Government’s Help for Households Scheme. On this website, helpforhouseholds.campaign.gov.uk, you can also find details of support available for energy bills, childcare costs and more.
  • If you have a low disposable income, or are receving benefits or pension credits, you may be able to get up to 50% off your water bill through Anglian Water’s LITE and Extra LITE tariffs. You’ll need to be on a water meter, or you can have one fitted for free. See Anglian Water’s website at Anglianwater.co.uk for more information.
  • If you’re on means tested benefits, you’re eligible for a free card for the Company Shop on Princewood Road, Earlstree Industrial Estate in Corby. The Company Shop sells surplus food and household products at vastly discounted prices, and you can save up to 50% on your weekly shop. Visit companyshopgroup.co.uk
  • North Northants Council’s Household Support Fund also offering financial support for low income households. Find out more here
