SUMMARY:Full peal\, St Mary Magdalene
DESCRIPTION:A group of bell ringers have challenged themselves to ring a peal at all the 5-bell towers (i.e. towers with 5 bells) in the Peterborough Diocese\, during its centenary year. \nThese 5-bell towers are not rung so often\, and they will be visiting Cottingham on June 2nd. Ringing will commence at 2pm and the peal is expected to last around three hours. \nWhen rung on 7 bells\, a peal is a non-stop sequence of a minimum of 5\,000 changes\, where each sequence is different and cannot be repeated. On 5 bells\, which is what we have at Cottingham\, the maximum number of permutations (different orders) is 120\, so there is some duplication in the sequences\, but the bells are still rung for three hours to make the full peal. It is the bell ringers’ equivalent of a marathon\, requiring concentration and stamina to complete.

DESCRIPTION:Do come and join us at the top field along the Jurassic Way footpath from Cottingham to Middleton. This is the same field where we lit the Platinum Jubilee Beacon. \nPlease gather from 8.15pm for the D-Day 80th year International Tribute and Beacon Lighting\, which will take place at 9.15pm. \nThe bells will be rung from St Mary Magdalene Church\, Cottingham at 6.30pm. \nLook forward to seeing you there.

DESCRIPTION:24 Carat Jazz is delighted to be performing a one hour Sunday afternoon concert at St Mary Magdalene Church. \nFeaturing Jane Smith on vocals and tenor sax\, John Deane on piano and Kevin Griffiths on double bass\, this popular trio plays easy listening jazz and swing favourites from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald\, George Gershwin\, Cole Porter and Frank Sinatra\, to name but a few. \nTickets are £10 each to include a glass of fizz and canapés. \nPlease get your ticket in advance so we know how many to cater for.
